She crab soup on Spirit of Charleston dinner cruise. I ate she crab soup a lot of different places when I lived in SC but the Spirit cruise was my favorite. It had a flavor note that I took for brandy but I now suspect was sherry. And the finish had a touch of heat. So I've come to eat she crab soup with a splash of hot sauce, which appalled a lot of Coastal Virginians.

Late December 2008/early January 2009.

We were on a very new Carnival Cruise ship, the Glory.

The bread pudding was outstanding. They never responded when I asked for the recipe...

Growing up my grandparents lived in Key West. I spent as much time there as possible. Summers and weekends.
My grandfather would go crabbing and take me and a couple of his friends. We used the traps at night.
The following morning we would bring the live crabs home and put them on ice.
Later that day my grandmother would cook them and dump big piles of crab on a table covered with newspaper.
We sat there and ate for hours. The adults consumed beer and we had such a good time. After all it takes a long time to get full on blue crab.
The crabs were great!

Most memorable was at K Paul Louisiana Kitchen. Memorable not because it was so good but because it was so bad. I have been cooking Chef Paul's recipes from his cookbooks for some time and what we got at the restaurant couldn't compare to what I had fixed from the books. Definately not worth the cost or the standing in line outside the door. Wish I could remember what we ate but it was something I had made at home and wanted to compare their's to what I made from the book.

The place closed permanently in 2020.

Choosing a random food stall at Tsukiji Fish Market (in Tokyo, the old one) and eating probably the freshest sushi I'd ever have in my life. Who cared that it was not yet 8 am?

I ate there! Back in the late 80s.

I think I had the BBQ shrimp; I know it was shrimp, messy, with the shells and heads still on but I definitely remember the waiter putting a bib around my neck.
