This isn't an original Wooleyburger, when I made these I couldn't get large tomatoes so I used Romas and put 3 pieces to a burger.
I use a Kaiser roll exclusively for burgers.
First mix the meat. 80/20 ground beef with your favorite meat seasoning. Taking the plastic lid from a half gallon jar pack the meat into the cap but not too tightly and run out on a sheet pan lined with baking paper, it should be almost the same size as the bun. Preheat oven to 350 and cook the meat for about 15 minutes until done or grill them if you prefer.
Slice large tomatoes to 1/4 inch thick or a little thicker.
Slice a red onion the same.
For the lettuce I like iceberg, red tip, green leaf or butterhead. Use your favorite.
Split the rolls and slather mayo on both sides.
Now for the controversial part. IMO mustard and cheese do not belong on a burger much less the same room with a burger. So there. Wooley has spoken.

We'll have to disagree. IMO a burger isn't worth eating without cheese and a light spread of spicy or stone ground mustard.

So there. Kitchen Wench has spoken...lol

I'm voting with Wooley. If you need cheese to hide the meat flavor, buy better meat.

My wife prefers ribeye and won't eat sirloin steak. I ground up the odds and ends when I butchered the last top butt and made some 75/25 burgers cooked med-rare on the grill. She has been begging for more

Roll The Bones burgers are actually cheese burgers. Beef patty, cheese (melted in the pan or grill on top of the patty), onion (red is the best), lettuce, tomato, ketchup mustard and mayo.
Now when I'm making a burger for lunch I use nothing but cheese and mayo.

Cheese does not hide the flavor. It adds a flavor. It adds a very good flavor. I only use mild cheese for this. American or Muenster is very good.

Red onions are the secret burger topping.
I use red/purple onions a lot. They are great on homemade subs and salads as well.
I use almost exclusively white onions for cooking. Or yellow when on sale. White and yellow usually the same price. Vidalia while very popular is the last choice on my grocery list. Their good though.

That sir is a Cheese Burger not a Hamburger. Ketchup!!!! Sacrilege.
Yellow onions for cooking unless white are cheaper.

You all can keep the onions. I have a sensitivity to raw onions that causes some very unpleasant side effects. Especially for those around me.

Cooked onions aren't as much of a problem which is a good thing because I love fried onion rings...lol

You sound like my wife. When I do burgers I have to do a thick slice or two for her. A little olive oil, salt & pepper folded into a hershsey kiss and cooked on the grill with the burgers.

Yum, I haven't baked onions in a long time. Peel a whole onion, cut an X partially through, place on foil, add a pat of butter some salt and parmesan cheese. Make into a Hershey Kiss and bake at 350 for an hour to 1 1/2 hours.

Onions next to salt are so important in my kitchen. I could never imagine life without them. If its only an issue for people close by, eat them....lol

I wish it were just a problem for those around me but it's not. :( I'm fine with dried and cooked, it's raw I can't tolerate. And I find the taste is frequently overpowering in a lot of dishes now that I'm older.
