Truer words were never spoken. I've never had to do direct care for anywhere near nine years but you absolutely must have time to recharge. Any chance you can suffer a little "blue flu" and skip the event?
Not a chance wife wants to go. She needs to get out of the house anyway I at least can get out to WM early and at home ride around the yard mowing for about an hour. Mowing doesn't really help though.

Eventful weekend. G/son plays "select" under-14 hockey (between house league and rep).

In a tournament. They were 2-1 going against a 3-0 team tonite in an elimination.

They won 2-1 so they're going for all the marbles tomorrow afternoon. I think it was a 6 team tournament.

Proud grandpa 😁

Not much going on around here today. It's been a cold, raw, wet morning and isn't really much better now. The woodstove has gotten rid of the chill in the house, Benjen and my husband are snoring away and I'm finding it hard to stay awake myself...lol

Today is race day so there's no cooking tonight but there are plenty of leftovers to feed everybody and then some. Or they can fix a couple of sandwiches and call it supper. It matters not to me. ;)

Well, at the tournament sadly they lost. We knew it was going to be tough going in and it was. Close score but still a loss.

BUT the best news was: for his team, he was voted MVP for the tournament.

I have to buy a new shirt tomorrow/all my buttons popped off when we heard 😁

Reminiscent of the local High School basketball team. They had 1 loss on the year, and that by 2 points but they were very much a perimeter shooting team. I suspected that might be problematic in the tournament. Sure enough, they ran into a team out of Columbus with a big front court that was able to push them around and block shots and they went down for the year at the 'Convo' in Athens. The biggest guy that regularly plays varsity is 6'4" and they just couldn't work the paint with only one guy. A very good season but one step short of a great season. Every business on the main road still has "Good luck Panthers" on their marquees.

I totally “get it”.

I have vacation time scheduled around the fourth of July. A coworker mentioned that it's great I'm taking some time off. I had to explain it was no vacation at all. Instead, I will be the SSP (support services provider) for our deaf-blind son so he can attend the National Federation for the Blind convention in Houston this year.

I'll spend 4-days of doing nothing but running audio commentary of everything. I have family in Houston that I would love to see but nope, no time. From sun up to sun down, I'll be “working.”

I am blessed to be able to do this for our boy so he can get out and be with his peers but yeah, it's hard when you don't get a real break. I will however get a break from cooking, laundry, and dishes for those four days and I'll enjoy that for what it is.

Busy saving money this morning. Got a notification for Amazon that they screwed up but don't know what they screwed up, naturally, and that my order of subscribe & save coffee and a DVD set was being returned and refunded. Quick check around and found the DVD set $20 cheaper elsewhere so ordered and canceled the Amazon order. I love Amazon package handlers, thank you for saving me some money. If I seem to have an attitude about Amazon they've earned it, more than once.
Can't talk wife out of going to that rug rat BD party Sunday at an outdoor pavilion in a park on the water. It'll be around 50 deg and windy. She did agree to stay only an hour, hoping she'll want to leave before that but I doubt it.

I've got the King's, and only paid $11 including shipping for the Queen's. It was listed as Good but other than some scuffs on the cover and the spine being faded it's in almost new condition.

Most of the Medieval cookbooks I've collected are out of print or extremely hard to find since they were museum publications. They may show up on Amazon or EBay but they're really pricey.

Put a list in a Wanted category with a "not gonna pay more than" price atached. Some enterprising soul who is good a googling 😉 might find them for you 😁

Latest update on the rose bush. It still lives!

It's a bit hard to see because we've got the 50 Shades of Brown going in our backyard...

Looks great! My yard has reached the cut the grass every 3-4 days between each rain day stage.

I've done that mostly so I can go digging...lol

Nobody in my family understands my obsession with Medieval cookbooks. Heck, they barely understand my cookbook collecting obsession to begin with.
