I'm looking for a recipe for a 60's cake called

A&P Spanish Bar Cake

that you have made and can recommend.

MEMO: it is a recipe that a major grocery retailer produced in house in the 60's. Either a link to an online recipe that has been tried by the FCT poster or a homemade version that tastes like the original.

AND that's the one I found that prompted me to ask the question here.

With only 3/5 * (granted, it's only 5 people), at this stage I would ALWAYS look at the comments and see a)complaints/issues and b) (possible) improvements that 'makers' have made.

Hence, my question: if anyone here has made a version

If I ate then (some time in 60's) and I ate something close today I doubt I would know the difference.

When I first read your post I though but did not say, it was only a moist spice cake with good icing. Even then I suspect it had things in it that the average home cook does not use (unhealthy shortening ).

Hmm yeah I think we covered this already but it didn't make the trip for The Recipe Box or wherever it was.
