Been talking about this and figured I better post it. Not mine but found it online:

Ingredients
  • 5 habanero peppers chopped (or more if you like 😉 )
  • 1 mango peeled and chopped (I use red, not ataulfo)
  • 1 small white onion chopped (about 3/4 cup)
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
So, if it looks good to you, find it here

Welllllll, what does an apple taste like?

Difficult to say really. It's not sweet but has a sweet component (obviously). Lots of pepper flavour but again, what does a pepper taste like? It's fruity so they blend along with the ACV and other spices.

Kinda caribbean.

For example:
Mango is a sweet-tasting fruit and juicy like orange. It has a refreshing taste, perfect to have in summer. Some say it shares a similar taste profile with apple, apricot, peach, pear, pineapple, grapefruit, and banana

Not trying to be smart here but really, you have to try it. Overall, it's pretty cheap to make so if you like mango, just make half the recipe. Don't like it, you still have half a mango to enjoy 😁

It will be hot(tish) but it really depends on what flavours you like. I have tried other versions (with pineapple for example) but found the pineapple flavour gets kinda lost with the other spices. Not with this version though.

Sorry can't be more helpful but let me say this: this IS my favourite home-made sauce yet (and I've made about a dozen different kinds).

The way I look at new recipes is:

1)does it have ingredients that I like? cumin, mango, hot peppers, etc and
2)are the ingredients easily obtainable by me?

A lot of recipes I find are from the southern US on first look look really tasty BUT they include ingredients that I just can't source up here in the Great White North. So, even though some are available, if one or two aren't (or can't be reasonably be substituted for), I toss the recipe and keep looking.

I get it, and that's what I needed to hear.

What have you used this on? That might have been a better question.

I use it to dip pizza slices in, as a topping on grilled chicken, on chicken fingers, my daughter uses it as a dip for tortilla chips, really anywhere where you would use some kind of sauce.

Like with scrambled eggs, have it on the side. Treat it like salsa. You could even put it on ice cream !!

The combo of spicy hot and icey cold is something I am going to try the next time I have vanilla ice cream 😁

On the subject of Habaneros I made a Habanero Jerk once, an allegedly Jamaican recipe. Called for habaneros probably 2 but I used 20 and put it on some chicken. I cursed everybody including myself. That was the last time I knowingly ate habanero peppers.
