Do you like it? Have you ever had it? Or is it a New York dish?
I make Gavalax and want to share it with you guys, but, I’m curious
is there anyone here that likes lox, or is there anyone here that
never had lox?

I tried lox about 25 years ago and decided I didn't need to try it again. It was too fishy for me, at least that's how I remember it.

No, not a fan salmon.

I've not tried sushi, it doesn't appeal to me. I do like ceviche!

The seafood I'm most familiar with, and that I was raised on, can be found in the Gulf of Mexico and the rivers and lakes in Texas.

Do you like shrimp ceviche? I make it with lemon or lime, avocado and roasted pepper strips.

Yes, yes, and yes. Though as New Yorkers have migrated across the US, so has bagels and lox.

I'm a fan of smoked salmon in almost any form.

I don't eat it on a bagel because I don't like bagels but I've had lox. My wife liked to get some for the holidays. Apparently one of the few fancy things they had when she was a girl was a whole side of smoked salmon.

I don’t like it on bagels either, I like it on toast, rye bread, toasted sour dough bread
and Italian or french bread.

Then you’ll love my Gravlax…homemade, I make it with 1 to 1 1/2 lbs salmon…I’ll do a post on it.

Ocean fish does not sell well at my local Walmart. Almost every time I go in there they've got salmon or cod loins or mahi mahi or tuna steaks marked down. My kids don't like tuna steaks but the freezer has multiple of each of the others in it. Once in a while they even have petite lobster tails.

That’s a shame…We have markets that sell very fresh Fish…I know other parts of the country are
not so lucky.

You would love lox. It’s so expensive now…Gavalax is delicious as well..

Shrimp and crab.
Lemon, lime, avocado, cilantro, red onion, tomatoes, jalapeno and serranos.

Nothing fancy, but really good.
