I would not have guessed those bags could hold up to that cook.
I assume it's the same as putting a paper coffee cup full of water on top of a red hot gas heater. The paper will burn down to the water level and no more until the water starts to boil and the level decreases. I've done this, it could take 10 or more minutes for the cup to finally disappear.I would not have guessed those bags could hold up to that cook.
That's a shame.Do they have grills at Motel6? Cause that is about as close to camping as I intends to get.![]()
It should be fine. As I said earlier I've put paper coffee cups full of water on top of heaters that were glowing red, about 900 deg, and they did not burn instantly but slowly as the water boiled off. I'm pretty sure the reason the dry paper doesn't burn is due to released moisture in the bag. Don't think you'd want to put the bag directly in flames. That sounds good! I'm heading out for a week in mid May and will give it a try. It'd be perfect on a lightly toasted bagel, too!
I do wonder how well it would do on a cast iron grill pan on top of a camp stove though. I hate having to get the fire going first thing in the morning.
I'll try to remember. I can't remember my name half the time now.As the eggs cook they release a bit of moisture and with the coating of bacon fat it kind of makes sense that the bag doesn't burn.
Somebody please remind me before I go to take pictures and when I get back in late May and I'll post pictures of how well it works!
Thanks Fred.I'll try to remember. I can't remember my name half the time now.
