Calabacitas or little squash. I think this dish is yummy and it's easy to make. Use any little squash, zucchini, pattypan, yellow, etc. and follow the recipe. It doesn't need to be cooked to death, I use canned corn instead of fresh so this only needs heating through. This is the little squash I use. I don't know it's real name, I've only seen it called Calabacita.

Yes looks similar and about half the cost. I pay $0.69/$0.89 per lb. It's a very good substitute for zucchini which I almost never buy anymore. I've made the Jacques Pepin zucchini galettes with it (fried zucchini patties) and the were delicious. Try them if you find them and save yourself some coin.
Since I found that recipe I make it often. Calabacitas are available year round here.
